Dear Los Angeles Unified Family,
On Classified Employee Appreciation Week, I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to our more than 30,000 classified colleagues who contribute to the well-being of our students and school communities. From bus drivers, community representatives and administrative assistants to food service workers and IT analysts, your enduring commitment helps cultivate a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment for more than 500,000 students every single day.
Each year, we have the privilege of recognizing outstanding individuals who embody the spirit of excellence, service, dedication and professionalism specific to the classified workforce. Supervisors and colleagues nominate the best of the best from among their peers to be recognized as the classified employee of the year.
This year, it gives me immense pleasure to announce three Los Angeles Unified Classified Employees of the Year:
- Rodrigo Rincon, Plant Manager at Panorama High School
- Norma Diaz, Community Representative at 24th Street Elementary School
- Joseph Federico, Senior Tile Layer, Central Shops – 2024 California Classified Employee of the Year
